15 March 2017 – Invited by Prof Gerhart Holzinger, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Austria, a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia paid an official and working visit to the Austrian Constitutional Court in Vienna from 12 to 15 May 2017. In talks with the Austrian colleagues, Dr Miroslav Šeparović, President and Judges Dr Mato Arlović, Dr Branko Brkić and Antun Palarić, exchanged experiences on two major topics. The first addressed the relation between national and EU law, especially regarding the asylum right and return of refugees, and the Austrian case-law to that regard, while the second was dedicated to national referenda with emphasise on questions that cannot be decided on a referendum. Along President Holzinger, the meeting was attended by Deputy President Ms Brigitte Bierlein and Judges Prof. Georg Lienbacher and Prof. Rudolf Müller.
