23 September 2026 - At the invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia, Prof Dr Frane Staničić, a working and official meeting of the judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia was held in Zadar from 20 to 22 September 2026. The eight-member Slovenian delegation was headed by the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Slovenia, Assoc. Prof Dr Rok Čeferin.

Annual meetings of the judges of the two constitutional courts have been held for more than four decades and represent an important form of their continuous professional cooperation and exchange of experience on current issues of constitutional adjudication. The central topic of this year's meeting was constitutional court case law concerning illegal construction. During the professional discussions, the judges exchanged experiences and views on relevant constitutional issues, and presented the most important decisions of the two courts adopted since the previous meeting, held in Slovenia in 2025.

Discussions on professional dilemmas and current constitutional law issues reaffirmed the value and importance of the continuous exchange of experience between the two courts, enabling them to consider different approaches to constitutional adjudication and share examples of good practice.
