14 July 2010 - a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia composed of: Professor Jasna Omejec, president and judges Mato Arlović and Nevenka Šernhorst participated in the Regional Conference of Constitutional Courts, that was, in the organisation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Macedonia and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, held from 11 to 13 July 2010 in Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia. The representatives of the Constitutional Courts of Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia and Germany, as well as the President of the European Court of Human Rights of the Council of Europe and the judge of this Court from Macedonia addressed the issues related to the independence of constitutional courts. The Conference concluded that the independence of constitutional courts is one of the fundamental requirements for the efficient realisation of the constitutional democracy and the effective protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and that constitutional courts can successfully realise their respective constitutional missions only if they enjoy the absolute institutional and individual independence.
