18 June 2018 - The Deputy President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia, Dr Snježana Bagić, participated in the preparatory meeting of the Circle of Presidents of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts (CECC) in Prague.
The preparatory meeting held on 13 and 14 June 2018 was aimed at setting organisational matters for the next CECC Congress that will be hosted by the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic. Thus it was concluded that the XVIIIth Congress of the CECC be held in Prague from 26 to 29 May 2020, with the topic: Human rights and fundamental freedoms: the relationship of international, transnational and national catalogues in the 21st century. The meeting was concluded by a mini-conference entitled Our Beginnings: Hans Kelsen´s Heirs dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic.
The CECC, which was established in Dubrovnik in 1972, brings together representatives of 41 European constitutional or equivalent courts conducting a constitutional review. It promotes the exchange of information among its members on issues relating to the methods and practice of constitutional review and provides a forum for the participants to share opinions on institutional, structural and practical problems in the areas of public law and constitutional jurisdiction. The congresses are organised at regular intervals - every three years. The Croatian Constitutional Court has been a full member of the CECC since 1993.
