Study Visit of a Delegation of the Macedonian Constitutional Court to the Constitutional Court of Croatia

23 November 2017 - Within TAIEX instrument of the European Commission (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange) a three membered delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Macedonia composed of Aleksandar Lazov, Secretary General, Marija Petrova, state advisor, and Ljubica Angelova, advisor, came to a two-day study visit to the Croatian Constitutional Court. During the study visit Dr. Teodor Antić, Secretary General of the Croatian Constitutional Court, and other representatives of the Croatian Constitutional Court delivered presentations on the institute of constitutional complaint, the supporting IT system and case-law database, as well on the well-developed application of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in the case-law of the Croatian Constitutional Court.
Pursuant to the forthcoming constitutional amendments, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Macedonia is namely expected to gain a new competence to decide on constitutional complaints. Therefore, it is gathering best practices of other constitutional courts in order to be better prepared for this new task - this time with the support of the European Commission.
