3 February - Within the framework of the Peer review mission for the reform of judiciary - issues of independence and efficiency, Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Croatian Constitutional Court received today Mr Luca Perilli, expert of this Mission for the issues of appointments and responsibility of judicial officials. They talked about the jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court to decide on appeals against the decision to relieve a judge of office, and the decision about the disciplinary responsibility of a judge (the so called constitutional court procedures of appeal). The Report of the Peer Mission Experts is an important instrument for assessing the progresses in meeting the set benchmarks for closing the Judiciary and Fundamental Rights Chapter in the EU-Croatia accession negotiations.
