28 January 2011 - President of the Croatian Constitutional Court Professor Jasna Omejec participated in a seminar and a solemn hearing marking the opening of the judicial year of the European Court of Human Rights held in Strasbourg on 28 January 2011. More than 150 high officials addressed the issues related to the limits of the evolutive interpretation of the Convention. The introductory notes to the Seminar were delivered by Jean-Paul Costa, President of the ECHR, Françoise Tulkens, Judge of the ECHR, Lady Hale, the Right Hon the Baroness Hale of Richmond and Professor Jan Helgesen, Frist Vice-President of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe. At the solemn hearing which followed the seminar, the audience was addressed by President Costa and and Antonio Guterres, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. On this occasion the Court also launched a book "The Conscience of Europe: 50 Years of the European Court of Human Rights", which retraces the main events that have punctuated the history of the Court whilst at the same time projects into its future.
