8 November 2018 - Mr Hiroshi Koike, Judge of the Supreme Court of Japan, together with Mr Akira Morita, Judge of the Osaka District Court and H.E. Keiji Takiguchi, Ambassador of Japan to Croatia with associates, paid a curtesy call to the Croatian Constitutional Court to meet with Dr Miroslav Šeparović, President of the Constitutional Court, Judge Davorin Mlakar and Dr Teodor Antić, Secretary General.
In addition to the jurisdiction of the Constitutional Court of Croatia and its operations, they also addressed the differences between legal systems of the two countries in respect of the constitutional judiciary, given that in Japan the constitutional review is carried out by the Supreme Court of Japan and regular courts as well. Both sides agreed that regardless of the differences, the protection of human rights lies in the foundations of both systems and makes high quality cooperation possible.
