20 May 2013 - Professor Dr Jasna Omejec, President of the Croatian Constitutional Court, gave a lecture today at the traditional seminar of the Prosecutor General with municipal and county Public prosecutors held on Brijuni from 20 to 21 May 2013. In addition to regular topics on the activities of the Public prosecution service, the participants also addressed the issues of adjustment to the changes after Croatia becomes a full member of the European Union on 1 July 2013. In that light, President Omejec talked about the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union as components of acquis communautaire, giving special emphasis on the guidelines for applying the EU Charter and its relation with the Convention and national law. Finally, she pointed out to the pressing need for all the state bodies to get educated on the simultaneous application of the national law, EU Charter and the Convention on Human Rights.
