21 November 2008 - Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to the Republic of Croatia Mr. Vincent Degert visited today the Croatian Constitutional Court where he was received by Prof. Jasna Omejec, President of the Court and Judges Snježana Bagić and Prof. Željko Potočnjak. Several issues were addressed at the meeting, namely: the progress and also problems in the negotiation process of the Croatian accession to the EU, especially regarding the Chapter 23 (judiciary and fundamental human rights); the jurisdiction and the workings of the Croatian Constitutional Court as well as the lack of jurisdiction in several matters and finally the necessity of the new legal framework which will enable the Court to efficiently perform its duties stipulated in the Constitution.
